Bristol Bay, Alaska is home to one of the last great salmon fisheries on the planet. The salmon, wildlife, people and fishing jobs of this beautiful and productive region are threatened by the proposed Pebble (gold and copper) mine. If built, Pebble could become the largest mine in North America.
Things were looking better for those wanting to stop the Pebble Mine project until recent news in Alaska stated that the EPA (the Environmental Protection Agency) has settled a lawsuit with the mine partnership, enabling the company to move forward and apply for a federal permit for its proposed gold and copper mine in the Bristol Bay watershed.
The battle to protect Bristol Bay is back and now it's more important than ever to support the efforts to stop the Pebble Mine project.
