With the Season here in Ireland well on its way we now begin what is called the duck fly season, this is a small chironomoid that hatches mid May on the irish Loughs and is a fantastic second only to the May fly hatch.
My fly tying classes over the winter saw the students tying up various patterns for the Loughs and rivers, but this month saw a great interest from new students wanting to tie up patterns for the waters.
this resulted in me showing them my new Pseudo fly patterns that have taken off well here and some guys and gals in Canada and Oregon have been in contact to get their hands on these flies as field trials in the states and new zealand have been amazing.
The Pseudo hackle can be applied to numerous traditional patterns and the likes of the Mallard and Claret, Teal blue and Silver and the Dunkeld has astounded some of the top international anglers in the UK .
I will hopefully be going over to England this year to do a few workshops and a bit of fishing and showing these patterns off on their waters.
When we tried these out last season we were sceptical about them but we were proved right and now the shop stocks these and boy it is hard work trying to keep on top of the orders.
i hope you enjoy copying the pattern and feel free to contact me if you ever need and information about the patterns.
