Type of Water: Freshwater
Species: Rainbow trout, Brown trout
Winter has been somewhat mild down here in the south of New Zealand, Southland Te Anau and the fly fishing has been great. With the majority of the river systems closed in the Fiordland region it really only leaves the lakes as a local option. Whats great about this time of the year is that the fish are in spawning mode. Sometimes, especially on those warmer days when the suns out the fish become active and the fishing can be very good. These lovely wild brown trout were sight fished and fooled in the shallows on a small wet fly.. Magic day and a great winter fish.. Not long till the start of the 2019 - 2020 season more updates to come. If your looking for a New Zealand Professional Fly Fishing Guide check my website out http://www.fiordlandfishingguide.co.nz.
