Between the 50+ mph winds and the rain I decided to try and pop to my local river and catch my first pike on the fly for this season.
As I set off from the house the sun was trying to poke its way through the clouds. I was hoping that it would soon start to brighten up.
I got down to the river and started to fishing in one of my favourite spots first. With no luck, I gradually moved down the river stopping at each clearing for a few casts.
After a while the wind started to pick up again at the rain started once more. I decided I would try one more spot before heading home.
The spot was an over hanging try opposite a drain outlet. On my first cast I felt the line lock up and I was in. It wasnt a monster but a very welcome pike non the less.
