This is the fly that baby Tarpon went crazy over in our first film, "The Trail: A-Z". The gurgler is categorized in the top water section in the world of fly tying but is considered more of a slider than a popper. The overall brown coloration mimics the minnows found throughout the backcountry of the Glades.
The brown chenille adds a little bit of sparkle to the underbelly of the fly to really sell the effect. Keep your materials as small as possible because you're trying to create the effect of an injured minnow that strayed too far from the safety of the mangroves.
