Barred Shovelnose Catfish (Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum) has an elongated nose or snout that is flattened at the bottom, giving it a shovel-like appearance. Their body is gray-silver to brown in color with black tiger stripes. The fins are rounded and rather than having stripes, the fins are covered with black speckles. They have very small eyes and up to six long barbels coming off the front of the snout.
Will eat any fish or other prey that will fit in it's mouth. It is often found near the bottom and migrates over long distances to spawn in the wild.
