I very much enjoyed my short stay, although I was unlucky with the weather. Marina and her mother make you feel immediately at home, the room was spacious and clean, with a large shower in the en suite. The cooking was great.
I found the cottage a bit difficult to find, despite SatNav. Make sure you have Marina’s phone number before going there, so that you can call her if you’re lost.

It is a great place for Flyfishing. the meeting point is millers hat, where you will get a warm welcome and good tips for your fishing. The ghillie Steven is an expert and will give you good hints for the fishing. He knows where the fish will be. All fishing points are well marked. It is a pleasure to fish there.

We had a wonderful two days at Bywell from beginning to end, taking 5 rods.
Steven the ghillie made us all very welcome, offering coffee from the well appointed hut, and checked that all of our rods were set up to his satisfaction.
In average water levels there is more than enough fishing for 5 rods for a full day.
Steven (and his dad who helped out on day 2) was an outstanding ghillie, having grown up on the Tyne apprenticed to his father. Our team consisted of novice and experience anglers. All were made very welcome.
Their knowledge, humour, patience and hospitality was outstanding. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Great experience for my first time on the Tyne. Great ghillie, who couldn't do enought to help and was knowledgeable of the beat despite only starting recently. We will definitely come again!
