Our "Film Week" hosted by the talented film producer and great caster Cesar de la Hoz had arrived. Cesar along Pepe and Aitor Coteirón, all from Spain were visiting my place to make a fishing week and produce a film for spanish tv.
We travelled an hour from Gallegos to Estancia Río Pelke. The language is an advantage when it comes to this Route. My parents were the stars of this trip. Pepe from the Vasc country felt an immediate empathy for my father Pedro, who as a gaucho had millions of stories. I must say that sharing a week of intense fishing and a lot of laugh is the kind of things that keep me working as a guide through the years

We started on Pelke, dry flies with spanish techniques. I must confess that I was watching and learning a lot from this guys. The way they fish death drift is an art. I told my opinion of a drag drift (they hated it), that it was something common to see due to the wind, so it was a good effect sometimes. It all happened when we decided to put a small black streamer. 5 fish in 5 casts! They wouldn´t believe it!
Lunches were expected at the end of every session, terrific argentinian malbec, fresh meat from the estancia which never felt the cool of a fridge, cooked by my father the patagonic way. Well, nothing could go wrong.
The afternoon was in search of brown trouts. The first pool found us hooking fish with chernobyls and Cesar was running and shouting trying to get the right frames!
Cesar spent every night downloading and editing all the material he was collecting during the day. A hell of a job when you have walked the whole day.
Next estancia called Chank Aike on the 3rd day is an exclusive brook trout fishery. Some more water flowing than the other two rivers, and part of it never fished before. We had a great time and many fished caught on film! The highlight was a pool that gave us 14 fishes in 10 minutes, I don´t think there are many places like this one left in the whole world.
Our last estancia and the last two days were right beside Chile. Estancia Paliaike is well known for the pumas and the big brooks. We fished the volcanic valley looking for big and very selective fish. Ive been there many times and did see fishes but not many times caught them. This time we weren't that lucky, Aitor hooked something in the depths that took line like a train. I must say that in brook trout fishing I have never seen something like that before. I have caught fishes up to 3 kilos, and this one looked more powerfull, we couldn’t see it sadly!
After that one, we got some good ones up to two kilos.
