Reindeer lake has the most shoreline in the world for a fresh water lake, with over 5000 islands, we have unlimited potential for fly-fishing enthusiasts to come up every year for the rest of their lives and still have a different, and better experience every time. If you haven't experienced fighting a 50" Northern Pike on the fly, you don't know what your missing! Once you find the proper habitat, you can literally catch a fish on EVERY cast and with over 5000 islands on Reindeer Lake, you will have no problem finding good Pike habitat!
Traditionally, the most popular method of catching Arctic Grayling is on the fly, in both rivers or on the lake. You will find them all over the lake, even right in front of the lodge feeding on the bugs at the surface. We have world record potential for Lake trout at Arctic Lodges and have had more and more interest from guests catching them on the fly. Right after ice out, the Lake Trout are very shallow, but by mid-summer, they may be as deep as 65′, prior to coming back to the shallows for the fall spawn. With Lake Trout, the trick is to find the thermocline. They are sensitive to specific water temperatures and once you know what depth they are in, you won’t have any problems catching them. Our guides will be able to put you onto Lake Trout throughout the entire season. Most Lake Trout caught are in the 5 to 10 lb range, however, they get quite large on Reindeer Lake and guests of Arctic Lodges have caught and released Lake Trout of all sizes, including the lodge record of 73 lbs!!!
The main lodge at Arctic Lodges features a fireplace, billiard table, poker table, satellite TV, wireless internet access, full service tackle shop, clothing and souvenir store and dining room. Guests are welcome in the main lodge at any time during their stay and are encouraged to treat the lodge like home while there.
Breakfast and Dinner are both served in the dining room at the main lodge, while lunch is a shore lunch, professionally prepared by your guide.
In an effort to maintain it’s tradition as a wilderness lodge, Arctic Lodges has kept the original log cabins for guest accommodations, while modernizing them with washrooms and wood burning stoves.
